Performance and Fuel Efficiency

Get better power, better fuel economy and a lower carbon footprint with the 2021 Corolla Hatchback. Whether you decide to go manual or CVT, the Corolla has far better fuel economy ratings than the Impreza Hatchback. The Corolla’s force 2.0-litre inline 4-cylinder checks all the boxes, delivering an impressive 168-hps while using only 8.4/6.7L (city/highway) of fuel every 100 kilometres. In comparison, the Subaru Impreza offers only 10.1/7.7L per 100-kms and mere 152-hp output.

Corolla's Active Cornering Assist (ACA) is also a standout feature that gives you more control over your vehicle when making those sharp turns in the BC mountains. While this feature is only available on the (more expensive) Impreza Sport trim, it comes standard on the Corolla Hatchback.

Safety is the Standard

If you didn't know it by now, Toyota Safety Sense offers some of the most extensive and innovative safety features in the industry, keeping you, your passengers, and everyone else around you safe! When it comes down to it, the 2021 Corolla Hatchback simply has more standard active safety features than the Impreza Hatchback. Some of these features we’ve all come to know and love include:

  • Lane Trace Assist

  • Pre-Collision System with Daytime/Low-light Vehicle, Bicycle, and Pedestrian Detection

  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Road Edge Detection

  • Automatic High Beams

  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

In addition to these, one standout safety feature the Corolla offers is the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA). For added safety, BSM alerts you when vehicles in adjacent lanes may have escaped visibility in your side-view mirrors. While this feature comes standard on the Corolla Hatchback XSE, Subaru's similar EyeSight Driver Assist Technology features won’t come standard on the base-grade Impreza 5-door, and will cost extra.

With the Corolla, you can also enjoy Safety Connect, which comes standard as a 1-year trial. STARLINK Safety & Security for the Subaru Impreza Hatchback is only standard on the Impreza Premium 5-door trim line and higher. Included in both, you'll find Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, and Automatic Collision Notifications.

Comfort and Tech

The 2021 Corolla hatchback is also surpassing the Subaru when it comes to interior design and infotainment. When you want a bigger sound and standard display, the Corolla comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen and six speakers, while the Impreza 5-door has a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen and only four speakers. The Corolla Hatchback also comes standard with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, as well as SiriusXM and Amazon Alexa compatibility. While the Impreza comes standard with the first three, to get SiriusXM you'll need to upgrade to the Impreza Premium 5-door, and it lacks Amazon Alexa compatibility entirely.

In terms of interior space, the Corolla Hatchback has a cargo volume of 17.8 cubic feet and an EPA passenger volume of 84.6. Although the Impreza 5-door is slightly larger with a cargo volume of 20.8 cubic feet and a passenger volume of 99.8, the Corolla also has an enhanced cargo space add-on option which brings Corolla Hatchback’s cargo volume to 23.0 cubic feet at no extra cost!
